The Amsterdam Museum connects residents and visitors of the city of Amsterdam with each other and with the city. We do this by collecting, programming, and presenting Amsterdam objects and stories. In doing so, we pay special attention to young Amsterdam creators.

Within the AM Talent program, we work with young self-taught artists or vocational students who are developing their skills within informal networks. Through this collaboration, we encourage young creators to get to know the museum, step outside their network, and discover new places.

With AM Talent, we focus on three pillars: Community, Talent Stimulation, and Exhibition.

    Community

In the coming years, we will be working with AM Talent to build a community focused on knowledge sharing, inspiration, co-creation, and professionalization. With AM Talent, we aim to strengthen the network of young creative makers in the city and showcase their talent. For young makers, AM Talent is a safe place where they can develop, express themselves, make new contacts, and take their first steps in the cultural and creative field.

    Talent development

At AM Talent, we believe it is important that young creators are given the space to develop in their own way and take control of their personal learning process. We encourage creative doers who translate theoretical ideas into practical implementations and dare to stray from the beaten path. These young creators are forging the future connections in the city.

The Amsterdam Museum has a youth department. Various young people are hired to develop a product for the museum. The young people are employed by the museum and meet weekly at the office.

Class of 2023/2024 - Untold Restored

For the Class of 2023/2024, we are working with seven young people from the Game Artist, Photographic Designer, Event Management, Media Design, and Audiovisual programs at ROC Amsterdam and Mediacollege Amsterdam. In addition to developing a product, the youth department provides advice on the development of educational offerings for vocational education.

With their critical and sharp eye, the 2023/2024 cohort has enthusiastically designed the Untold Restored program. The program consists of a guided tour, a specially designed Amsterdam Museum card game, and an AR tour (Augmented Reality tour to be followed with a smartphone). During the first cultural intro week for vocational education in September 2024, 700 students came to participate in this program. The program is still available for booking!

    Exposeren

As the Amsterdam Museum, it is our responsibility to showcase the talent of young creators. With AM Talent, we aim to give them a more prominent place in the museum. While young talent gives us a glimpse into the future and presents stories that are relevant for now and the years to come, we improve their position in the field and create new opportunities. The creators are guided during the development of their projects by professionals from the creative and cultural fields.
