Get to know the residents
House Willet-Holthuysen is a wonderful 17th-century canal house that is furnished very tastefully, with the most beautiful art. Who were the people and animals that have lived here? What did they do back in the days?
Sammie, a joyful and sweet little dog leads you through the canal house of Louisa and Abraham, the last residents of the House Willet-Holthuysen. Sammie tells you about the history of the house and the colorful residents. You’ll meet cook Heinrich, the Deutz family and learn more about Louisa and Abraham.
There is turtle soup on the menu, you can walk through the large garden, discover the history of the golden banisters in the staircase and learn about the paintings, silverware, porcelain and about the green dress of Louisa. Walk together with Sammie along the many rooms and discover the interesting stories of the centuries old canal house.

Schildpaddensoep, schilderijen en meer
Verder staat er schildpaddensoep op het menu, wandel je door de grote tuin achter het huis, ontdek je de geschiedenis van de gouden trapleuning en leer je nog veel meer over schilderijen, zilver en porselein én de groene jurk van Louisa. Wandel samen met Sammie langs alle kamers en ontdek de bijzondere verhalen van dit eeuwenoude pand. ‘Sammie vertelt’ is ook leuk voor volwassenen!

The Willet-Holthuysen House
The imposing Willet-Holthuysen House is situated in the center of Amsterdam. The house on the Herengracht contains many period rooms. Its beautiful salons are in the style of Louis XIV, and the garden is symmetrically designed as a French formal garden.
