Network museum in the city
Collaboration, co-creation and participation are central to our approach. As a network organisation, the Amsterdam Museum collaborates with partners in many different ways and at many different levels. These partners include educational institutions as well as organisations in the cultural sector, but also media, companies and NGOs. We also regularly work together with individual artists, city makers and citizens' initiatives. We do this locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

The Amsterdam Museum Foundation is structurally supported by the Municipality of Amsterdam and the VriendenLoterij
The museum manages a large part of the collection of the city of Amsterdam. In return, we receive support from the municipality. The VriendenLoterij (Friends Lottery) is the culture lottery of the Netherlands. Almost 600,000 Dutch people play the lottery. They have a chance to win prizes and support all forms of culture in the Netherlands: from windmills to concerts and from festivals to museums. Thanks to its participants, the VriendenLoterij can contribute to 70 top institutions that dedicate themselves to culture in the Netherlands. The VriendenLoterij has been supporting the Amsterdam Museum since 2006. The structural contribution of the lottery is of essential importance for the realisation of the exhibitions we annually realise for a broad audience. The Amsterdam Museum is one of the many cultural institutions that offers benefits to holders of the VriendenLoterij VIP card.
With this loyalty card, the VriendenLoterij lets its participants experience what they help to make possible. Participants have free entrance to 50 Dutch top museums and get up to 50% discount on many other forms of culture like theatre, musical, festivals and concerts. Moreover, participants have a chance to win exclusive events and packages.
