Contents
It is the women who have made Amsterdam the city it is today. But the city also influences their lives and work. Women of Amsterdam is a tribute to the women of the past and present, written by young, passionate researchers at the Amsterdam Museum.
Which policymakers have shaped Amsterdam and beyond through long days spent at their desks and in conference rooms? Which advocates brought about change by raising a banner or speaking out on the barricades? And in what ways have trailblazers paved the way for the women of Amsterdam today?
Through fourteen thematic chapters and dozens of odes, the book examines the struggles and triumphs of women in Amsterdam’s rich history. It informs, inspires, and invites readers to reflect on the women of Amsterdam.
