Biography of Amsterdam 2026

On Friday, January 30, the Amsterdam City Archives hosted the premiere of the 2026 Biography of Amsterdam in its movie theater. This year's theme is Huizen met een verhaal ('houses with a story').

The videos and more information about the theme can now be found on a completely redesigned page. In the coming period, the page will be updated with various videos and themes, from 2009 until now.

Students in the Master’s program Publieksgeschiedenis (UvA) are building a constantly expanding portrait of the city of Amsterdam and its residents through the Biography of Amsterdam. Each year, groups of students produce a short documentary on a specific theme.

Please note: the videos have not been translated into English.
