Classical music in a modern setting
In collaboration with the Grachtenfestival, we have organised a special evening where music and imagery come together at Amsterdam in Motion. With music by Sweelinck, Van Eyck, Corelli and Sammartini, The Counterpoints – comprising recorder player Thomas Triesschijn and harpsichordist Aljosja Mietus – will transport the audience to the musical world of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Having performed at venues including the Concertgebouw and the Utrecht Early Music Festival, they are now presenting a new programme at Amsterdam in Motion. This programme focuses on Dutch masters, alongside Italian music that spread throughout Europe via Amsterdam publishers. Van Eyck’s improvisations at the Janskerkhof in Utrecht and Sweelinck’s influential style form the starting point for a varied Baroque programme full of dances, variations and sonatas.
Date: Sunday 9 August
Time: 15.00 & 17.00
Venue: Pazzanistraat 19, Amsterdam in Motion
