Amsterdam in Motion
Creating art together with an artist
Fancy a summer full of creativity? Come and create something beautiful at Amsterdam in Motion during our summer art workshops! During the summer holidays, the Amsterdam Museum is organising unique art workshops every Wednesday and Saturday as part of the ELJA Children’s Museum Lab.
Together with artists such as Marlou Fernanda, Bent Lochtenberg and Noémi Beyer, you’ll create your very own artwork in just one afternoon. Get creative with all sorts of materials, from textiles and beads to wire and cardboard.
The workshops are suitable for children aged between 8 and 12.

Saturday 25 July - Marlou Fernanda
How do lines become stories? With music as your guide, you’ll intuitively create your own artwork. Discover new figures, worlds and stories in your own drawing. Sometimes the most beautiful things emerge when you don’t have a plan.
Wednesday 29 July - Gio Georgescu
What do you want to share? In this workshop, you will create your own zine about something you're passionate about. Not only will you draw and collage your own pages, but you will then bind all your contributions together into a real book that you can take home!
Saturday 1 August - Anouschka Boswijk
Create a parade of moving figures! You’ll make, paint and decorate your own fantasy figure out of cardboard, which can really move. Together, we’ll turn these figures into a cheerful parade.
Wednesday 5 August- Bent Lochtenberg
Who do you think should be the mayor of Amsterdam? In this workshop, you’ll make a mayoral chain for Amsterdam’s ideal mayor. Using recycled materials, you’ll create a chain that perfectly suits your ideal mayor.
Saturday 8 August - Boris Deben
Discover the hidden world beneath our feet! Using wire, beads and plenty of creativity, you’ll build your own insects and learn to observe the remarkable shapes of the tiniest creatures around us.
Wednesday 12 August- Malou Sumah
Create your own summer from fabric! By sewing or gluing, you’ll make a personalised patchwork piece depicting your favourite summer activity in the city: from swimming in the Amstel, having a picnic and eating your favourite ice creams, to playing with friends.
Saturday 15 August - Noémi Beyer
Come and make your own linocut! Using a gouge and printing ink, you’ll create your own work of art, which you can then print as many times as you like.
