As part of the exhibition Women of Amsterdam - an ode, young makers from Amsterdam are exploring different perspectives on gender, identity, and feminism. Their work will be periodically shown as pop-up exhibitions under the title Girls On Top on Studio Panorama. In doing this, we provide a platform for the voices of a new generation.

Lin Woldendorp (1994) is a photographer based in Amsterdam. She creates portraits for newspapers such as De Volkskrant and NRC, and also works on personal projects. Her work focuses on people and their strength. How do they cope with life and with difficult moments? Lin looks for images that express emotion without the need for words. She uses color and light to soften heavy subjects. By spending time with the people she photographs, she builds trust. This makes it easier to talk about difficult topics.

 “I look for balance between staging my work and reality as it presents itself. I make space for wat emerges and direct the person I am photographing. In this way, I look for sincerity in order to convey the right message.”

Are you new to Amsterdam? Or do you want to get to know Amsterdam even better? Discover how your own story fits into the city's history during this interactive tour through the exhibition Panorama Amsterdam, designed especially for international residents. The story of Amsterdam is shaped by all its residents. As an international resident, you are part of this evolving narrative. Do you recognize your hometown on the oldest map of Amsterdam? And what characteristics do you consider typical of Amsterdam?

The tour is free upon presentation of a valid museum ticket. The tour is in English.

Zaterdag 17 mei van 12.30 tot 14.00 uur

In het kader van het project Vrouwen van Amsterdam - een ode organiseert het Amsterdam Museum in samenwerking met kunstenaar Patricia Blok de tekenworkshop ‘Ode aan jezelf' op zaterdag 17 mei van 12.30 tot 14.00 uur. Met Vrouwen van Amsterdam – een ode hoopt het Amsterdam Museum, samen met iedereen die dat wil, het verhaal van Amsterdam te verrijken met een vrouwelijk perspectief. Hoe vrouwen naar zichzelf kijken in het huidige Amsterdam hoort hier ook bij.

Deelname aan de workshop is gratis, aanmelden is verplicht. De voertaal is Nederlands.

Zaterdag 24 mei van 13.00 tot 16.00 uur 

Beyond the Nuclear Family is een project van schrijver en kunstenaar Mirthe Berentsen. Vanaf de zomer van 2025 zal zij door Nederland reizen om vastgeroeste ideeën over het kerngezin open te breken, geïnspireerd op de legendarische tocht van de Nederlandse feministische activistengroep Dolle Mina in 1972. Op 24 mei, van 13.00 tot 16.00 uur stopt Berentsen met de huifkar bij het Amsterdam Museum voor een inspirerende textielworkshop. Draag bij aan de huif met een stukje textiel dat voor jou van betekenis is.

Dit programma wordt georganiseerd in het kader van Amsterdam Art Week.

Vrouwen van Amsterdam - een ode 

Without women, Amsterdam would not exist. Their presence has made the city possible, as well as shaped it. But the male perspective dominates the history books. In the exhibition, visitors are introduced to more than a hundred women who have left their mark on the city over the centuries. More information and tickets

Homeless in the city - From February 14th

For many people, Amsterdam is home. However, not all Amsterdammers have a roof over their heads. At least 17,000 people in the city are homeless or itinerant—more than ever before. Itinerant persons have no fixed abode: they move from couch to couch, from friend to family member to acquaintance. For homeless (or unhoused) persons, this option is not available; they must find their place on the street. More information and tickets
