Friends of the Amsterdam Museum Foundation
The Amsterdam Museum is working together with the Municipality of Amsterdam to realize the renovation of the former Burgerweeshuis on Kalverstraat. The municipality is responsible for the renovation, but the entire furnishing of the museum and the programming must be financed by the museum itself. This amounts to an estimated 15 million euros.
The Amsterdam Museum will finance this through fundraising and sponsorship. As part of this, the Friends of the Amsterdam Museum Foundation was established in 2022 with the goal of raising financial resources for the museum in the context of its renovation, furnishing, and other activities and projects which correspond with the purpose set out for the Amsterdam Museum.
The Foundation seeks to achieve its goals by, for instance, raising money through private individuals, fundraising and sponsorship, and campaigning. The Foundation is a nonprofit organization.

The Friend of the Amsterdam Museum Foundation holds Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling (ANBI) status and is classified as a cultural institution by the Dutch tax authority. A gift to Foundation provides the giver with additional tax benefits.
