Cristobal Bonelli
    Bonelli

Cristobal Bonelli is a researcher trained in Clinical Psychology and Medical Anthropology, and currently serves as Associate Professor of Anthropology, Socioecological Transitions, and Territorial Transformations at the University of Amsterdam. His interdisciplinary work bridges clinical psychology, social anthropology, and science and technology studies (STS) to examine how climate crises, extractivism, and geopolitical tensions reshape health, livelihoods, and environments—particularly in Chile.

Grounded in ethnographic research, his work explores how public policies in mental health and energy intersect with community transformations, especially in Indigenous and marginalized territories. He has built long-standing collaborations with local communities, institutions, and researchers in Chile.

Bonelli holds a degree in Clinical Psychology from Pontificia Universidad Católica (1999), a specialization in Family Therapy from Milan, and a PhD in Social and Medical Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh (2012). He has led major international projects including the ERC Worlds of Lithium and the Marie Curie Invisible Waters project in the Atacama Desert.
