
Jorge Durán Solórzano is a Ph.D. candidate at the Leiden University Center for the Arts in Society. His research focuses on the argumentative and rhetorical discourses that emerge from the relationship between the state and social movements, with a particular interest in armed organizations. His dissertation examines guerrilla communiqués in Mexico in the 1960s and 1970s, focusing on the construction of the revolutionary ethos of these organizations in response to criminalizing tropes employed by the state and the media. His fields of interest include argumentation and rhetoric, discourse analysis, Latin American social movements and more.
