Lise Woensdregt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and co-director of the Research & Innovation Lab ‘Co-creation for Inclusive Knowledges’ at the Faculty of Social Sciences. Her research focuses on collaborative and community-led projects with marginalized groups, including transgender youth and (queer) sex workers. She uses comics and illustrations to make research accessible and relevant to these communities. Woensdregt’s PhD, completed in 2024, examined how a queer male sex worker-led organization in Nairobi navigates knowledge politics within development partnerships, revealing gaps in inclusivity despite well-meaning intentions. Her current work continues to explore knowledge politics in and beyond development, emphasizing Community-led Research and Action (CLRA) and addressing institutional challenges in academia.
