Dear Saskia,

Daughter of... to wife of... Where were you? Your role revealed by your background? Bigger than thought, a woman vitally important to your husband, perhaps also essential. Way ahead of your time. A woman with knowledge and abilities of her own. In my family also wayward women in building a life alongside/in the men's world. Fortunately for my girls a “free” path to walk. Thanks and rest in peace!

About

Ode to Saskia van Uylenburgh by Samantha Stel.

Every year on March 9 at 8:30 a.m., a ray of sunlight falls on Saskia van Uylenburgh's grave in the Oude Kerk. In cooperation with the Amsterdam Museum, people could write odes to Saskia and other Amsterdam women who mean something to them during the Saskia Breakfast.
