Ode to Saskia van Uylenburgh | Women working in professions dominated by men

By Jitske Nap9 maart 2025

My tribute is to women working in professions dominated by men. For my photographic “nude butterflies,” I photographed women in the Amsterdam nightlife scene. From producers and sound engineers to toilet ladies. They bring the Amsterdam night to life.

Period

1621– 1642

About

Ode to Saskia van Uylenburgh by Jitske Nap.

Every year on March 9 at 8:30 in the morning, a ray of sunlight falls on Saskia van Uylenburgh's grave in the Oude Kerk. In cooperation with the Amsterdam Museum, people could write odes during the Saskia breakfast to Saskia and other Amsterdam women who mean something to them.
