Ode to Saskia van Uylenburgh | Thank you for all you have meant to so many and to me

By Matheline Drenth-van Beek9 maart 2025

Dear Catherine Drenth-van Beek,

Dear mom, greatest courageous woman. Thank you for everything you have meant and still mean to so many and to me. Your progressiveness, your standing up for everyone who was badly affected by jet fate, for refugees and your fight for inclusion are inspiring. Scarred for life by WW2 yourself, you stood up for injustice and worried about the future for all children.

Period

1621– 1642

About

Ode to Saskia van Uylenburgh by Matheline Drenth-van Beek

Every year on March 9 at 8:30 in the morning, a ray of sunlight falls on Saskia van Uylenburgh's grave in the Oude Kerk. In cooperation with the Amsterdam Museum, people could write odes during the Saskia breakfast to Saskia and other Amsterdam women who mean something to them.
