Ode to Nelly Bos | Influential social worker

By Anonymous1 mei 2025

Nelly was born in 1930 and was an influential social worker. She primarily worked with youth in Amsterdam, where she dedicated herself to their well-being. She was involved in various projects aimed at providing young people in the city with a better future perspective. Nelly wanted young people, especially from disadvantaged neighborhoods, to have the opportunity to develop and receive a good education.

In addition to her work in social work, Nelly Bos was also active in the women's movement. She believed it was important for women to have equal opportunities in work and society. She advocated for women's rights and for the improvement of women's positions in Amsterdam's society.

Nelly Bos had a great influence on the way the city dealt with young people and women. Her commitment ensured that there was more attention to social issues and that there was more support for vulnerable groups in society. Nelly passed away in 2005, but her work lives on in the projects and ideas she left behind. She was a woman who changed Amsterdam and meant a lot for the city and its residents.
