    The Willet-Holthuysen House

    Remembering, recognizing and connecting

Pick up a Heri Heri dish between 12.00 pm and 5 pm. Take the dish home, or eat it in the historic garden of the Willet-Holthuysen House while enjoying a free drink. With the serving of this dish, we invite everyone to reflect together on the shared past and build collective consciousness. Will you stop by?

Heri Heri is a common one-pot dish that originated on the Surinamese plantations during the transatlantic slave trade. The recipe was passed down for generations, resulting in the dish we know today that includes cassava, boiled sweet potato and plantain, bakkeljauw and egg.
