Geertruida (Truus) Wijsmuller-Meijer (Alkmaar, April 21, 1896 – Zandvoort, August 30, 1978) was a Dutch resistance fighter who helped Jewish children and adults escape to safety before and during World War II.
She was awarded the title of Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem. Together with others who worked for the pre-war Kindertransport, she saved the lives of more than 10,000 Jewish children fleeing anti-Semitism.
Due to the construction of the exhibition Refresh Amsterdam #3: Imagine the Future, the Amsterdam Museum on the Amstel will be closed from June 2 through July 10.
Please visit our location at The Willet-Holthuysen House. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you again on July 11.
