City conversation Bijlmer air crash

Where were you on October 4, 1992? The day that a cargo plane of the Israeli airline EI AI crashed on the Groeneveen and Klein Kruitberg flats in Amsterdam Zuidoost. The disaster killed 43 people and injured many others – an event that has left deep marks in the city. What do you remember about the Bijlmer air crash? On June 2nd at 15.00 - 17.00 hrs and June 9th at 18.00 - 20.00 hrs, we cordially invite you to a free city discussion on this topic over a cup of coffee or tea.

Listen, learn, remember and commemorate

We would like to ask you to bring your story, whether or not visualized in the form of, for example, a photo or object. What is your memory of the Bijlmer air crash? We are happy to discuss it with you to listen, learn, remember and commemorate together.

Exhibition Bijlmer air crash

These city conversations take place within the framework of the Collecting the City program line, in which the Amsterdam Museum on the Amstel collects stories about and with the city. On the occasion of 30 years of the Bijlmer air disaster, we are co-creating an exhibition this year in collaboration with Imagine IC, in which we commemorate this event city-wide. This will be on display at the Amstel 51 from September. The stories of residents, relatives and those involved in the disaster are central to this.
