It could be a little softer

My wish for the future of the Netherlands is that we are less harsh on each other. The political climate that excludes people and sees them as the main cause of problems is sad, untrue, and, moreover, un-Dutch. Our country is internationally renowned for being free, friendly, and emancipated. That is our strength. My wish also has a personal component. I myself have had a harsh voice in my head. This voice was given too much power and caused me to lose my sense of experimentation and joy. Since I silenced this voice, I feel it is time to share this development and the wisdom I have gained with the rest of the Netherlands. That is why I would like to make a statement with this symbolic old Dutch image and express my wish for the future of the Netherlands and its inhabitants: it could be a little softer. By using soft materials such as fabric, thread, and filling, I transform an originally hard, ceramic object into something soft and cuddly. With the support of folk wisdom, I want to give this wisdom back to the Netherlands and remind it of what it stands for. (All materials have been reused from other projects. Errors have been deliberately left uncorrected in order to develop looser works and embrace imperfections).
