Here, Where Threads Remember, We All Find Home

My wish is rooted in a deep desire to reimagine Amsterdam as a city where every resident—especially immigrant women—feels at home and is empowered to co-author its story. Through Bonds per Stitch, a participatory quilting project, I engage with migrant women to reclaim space via memory, dialogue, and shared labor. In a time of rising alienation and exclusion, this work becomes a quiet, persistent act of resistance. It proposes a softer, more inclusive city—one stitched together by many hands. This wish matters for the Netherlands because belonging should not be inherited—it must be made, together, with care.
