Ode to ZabidaGaining self-confidence

Artwork Zabida, Maya Angelou Reception (2025)
I am proud that we were busy and I that I learned something new. At first I didn't think I could do something like that. But I found that I could do it, mix paint into a color I wanted to make and draw something. It gave me confidence, in drawing. I think this drawing that I made myself is the most beautiful of anything I've made. I expected it to be something else because I was trying to draw a woman. And then it became a little bear wearing a cap. A cap with Keti Koti fabric. Apparently that was unconsciously in me. It was a surprise how it turned out.
This is my message to other Amsterdammers: Amsterdammers may see this because they can see something in it. Make an image of it themselves. And, also I think that when others see this who may think that they can't do something like this, this makes them think that they can. That they can also draw something. So if they have the idea that they can't draw, and see this, this will give them confidence that they can. And when you are busy drawing, then your thinking becomes clear, you can let go of your worries, because you are focused on what you are doing. I hope we can continue painting.
